I heard many times agents or companies do that just to generates a sale, a book. Making false promises to tourist just to sale and sign a charter. That is why many tourist came back sad or mad because they didnt catch nothing or didnt fill expectations. But the real problem, was no be honest and inform to you about fishing in Cabo.
Let me inform to you fishing in Cabo change, it is not the same like the 80s, 90s. I remember when my dad Roberto on his panga was possible to go fishing 3 times in a day, because the fish was very close to the port. Just passing the arch 1 mile and fishing party starts. So those were the days.
Now many factors change the game of fishing in Cabo. For example:
1) Overfishing worldwide and local. 2) Crowd fishing areas many boats doing the same each morning in Cabo. 3) Climate change some years sea temperature change the game. 4) Out of control no fishing regulation in sizes. 5) No culture in fisherman to save and release the small sizes.
So this is only some examples why fishing in Cabo is not the same like 20 years ago. This is very important to know by tourist and new clients who is trying to book a charter. For our team is very important and we are interest to fish or catch a fish. Because if you are happy everybody wins, the crew, the company, the agents, etc. But this is fishing not catching. Fishing and hunting are similars, are like a coin in the air. Some days is very good, next day all the game change and sometimes nothing bites in 8 hours. Sometimes the boat return without a flag. Sometimes that happens and you need to know before book. The season also change the game, there is some fish calendars on the web who needs to updated. They show the species you can fish in each month. Since climate change this is also a factor because sometimes happens there is not a specific fish specie in Cabo. And the client travel to Cabo thinking this is the month of the rooster, or tuna, grouper. Fishing still be fun and there is some days very good, the best months are august to december. But is not the same fishing from years ago.
